Here’s a short Chimpanzee featurette with more details.

If you’re not familiar with this new film from Disney Nature, here’s what I know about it:

Oscar the Chimpanzee is born into a large loving family. He’s the normal curious playful chimp, but when he’s about 3 years old something goes terribly wrong, and he finds himself fending for himself, alone without his family. Another chimp finds him, adopts him and raises him as its own. Chimpanzee is a true story, and it’s the first time something like this has been documented on film.

The whole gang is back including Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo To escape animal control they join a circus and tries to “blend in” with the crowd. Here’s the trailer:

We’ve loved all the Madagascar movies so far, so I can’t wait to check this one out this summer when it hits theaters!

2008 is turning out to be an excellent year for animated movies

So far we’ve seen Wall-E(tm), Kung Fu Panda(tm), and Horton Hears a Who(tm) all kicking it at the box office.

There are some animated movies still to come in 2008 that promise to be box office hits, from some of the animation power houses,  Star Wars the Clone Wars(tm) from Lucas Film, Disney’s Bolt ™, Madagascar Escape 2 Africa(tm) via Dreamworks, and, Tales of Despereaux(tm) from Universal premiering at Christmas. 

I’ll have more on the upcoming animated movies in the next few days, stay tuned.

I can’t wait to check them all out, and to see how they fare against the competition. What’s your favorite animated children’s movie of 2008? Which one do you think will be tops at the box office at the end of the year?

This time they’re escaping from Madagascar, only to land in the wilderness of Africa, where Alex meets some of his relatives. Find out what happens when the whole animal reservation they land in runs out of water, and Alex saves the day by leaving the reservation to find out what’s going on.

I was a little skeptical that they could create a modern day Alvin and the Chipmunks that was as good as the original. It was good in a different way. It was enough like the original to bring back some fun childhood memories, but they did a great job of modernizing the chipmunks.

The Alvin and the Chipmunks movie has David Seville as a struggling song writer. He accidentally brings the chipmunks home in a basket. After discovering they can talk (and sing) he tries to market their talent. The Chipmunks find success, but when their pushed too hard by record exec Ian Hawke, David tries to slow them down and finds himself cut out of the picture.
